Flint Water Crisis Teach In

Added on by SCOR UMich.

Students of Color of Rackham:

I'm working with an interdisciplinary group of students, staff, and faculty to organize a University-wide Teach-in on the Flint water crisis.

We’re seeking student representatives from multiple departments, schools and groups on campus into this organizing committee. We’re aiming to:

  1. Ensure that the community of Flint is at the center of these discussions. We will work to minimize the travel/time burden on Flint and Detroit residents/activists/organizers who are being sought out for multiple speaking engagements across campus.

  2. Co-coordinate a teach-in that includes presenters from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds in order to promote learning across our academic silos;

If you (or another representative from your school/dept/organization) is interested in joining our next planning meeting, please contact Teona at teonawil@umich.edu

Stay tuned for a list of some preliminary guiding principles we’ve developed for the group.

Also, even if you can’t make this initial meeting, let us know if you want to stay informed as dates/locations/etc are decided.

Thanks for your consideration and we hope you can join us!
