Did you know that in 2014 the Michigan Regents voted to extend in-state tuition to undocumented Michigan residents? Before 2014 undocumented Michigan students had to pay out-of-state tuition.
Did you also know that although the policy change is a great first step, it excludes undocumented graduate and non-traditional students from accessing the same benefit?
We need to change this!
The Coalition for Tuition Equality invites you to join us on Thursday February 11th at 6:30pm to learn about launching a movement to support true tuition equality and address barriers that are still keeping undocumented students from accessing a world-class education offered by our wonderful university.
The Coalition for Tuition Equality is setting 3 goals to improve access and the climate on campus for undocumented students. First, we ask that the Regents revise the improved guidelines to provide access for Graduate undocumented students and non-traditional undergraduate undocumented students. Second, we want the University of Michigan to establish resources, provide spaces, and educate our campus in order to provide undocumented students an environment in which they can thrive. Third, we ask that the University of Michigan establish and promote financial aid programs for undocumented students at the undergraduate and graduate level.
We know that with your help we can reach these goals. Be a part of the movement. We need your voice and input for upcoming events, actions, and strategic plans to move forward.
RSVP is recommended but not required - please RSVP to email@example.com.
